OBITUARY
Another of the old pioneers has passed away after a short illness in the
person of Mr Richard Williams, the well-known coachbuilder and
wheelwright, of Peel street, Ballarat East. The deceased was a man of
sterling qualities and a fine tradesman. He was held in great respect
and esteem by his fellow citizens. The deceased was a native of
Cornwall, England, and came to Victoria in the ship Southern Hemisphere
in the ʼ50’s, and settled in Ballarat. He purchased the business which
was carried on by the late Mr William Trease some 45 years ago, and he
had worked continuously till a few weeks ago. He has left a widow and a
grown-up family of five sons and four daughters to mourn their loss.
There are 12 grandchildren.

DEATHS
WILLIAMS.—On 2nd July, at his late residence, 22 Peel street north,
Ballarat East, Richard, the beloved husband of Sarah Baker Williams;
aged 78 years.
