Obituary
Mr. William Wearne, one of the original settlers in the Baulkamaugh
district, has died. He was born in Cornwall 86 years ago, and selected
land at Baulkamaugh in 1877. He entered Wesley College in the year the
school was opened, and stroked the first Wesley rowing crew. He was the
champion athlete in the first Melbourne Public Schools’ sports held on
November 30, 1870. Mr. Wearne was the first superintendent of the
Baulkamaugh Sunday school.
