HANGED IN A SLAUGHTER-YARD
BROKEN HILL, Friday.
Richard Henry Vivian, single, 38, committed suicide by hanging at
Eglinton’s slaughtering yards yesterday. Vivian was a shepherd, drover,
and slaughterman, and was fairly well known. Deceased was found hanging
to a rafter.
Deceased was 42 years of age, and a native of Cornwall. He was married
at Moonta 20 years ago, though his wife had left him 17 years ago. On
Wednesday Vivian had some wine, but was quite sober, and left his home
about 9 o’clock. He was not afterwards seen. He was in good health,
except for slight attacks of rheumatism.
