The Maitland Mercury & Hunter River
General Advertiser,
Saturday 10 December 1881 (New South Wales)
(From the Uralla and Walcha Times Dec. 7.)
Another old and highly respected resident of this district—Mr. William
Skewes—passed over to the great majority on Thursday afternoon last,
after a few days’ illness. Deceased had been identified with the Rocky
diggings in their palmy days, and throughout a long residence in this
district was respected by all classes for his manly and upright
disposition. He was a native of Cornwall, England, and leaves a widow
and large family. Deceased was 62 years of age.
