OBITUARY
The late Mr. William Rowe was born in Hale, Copperhouse, Cornwall, in
1857. He came to South Australia in the Maori in 1865. He settled at
Kapunda, but afterwards went to Moonta and began life underground at the
age of 15 years. Mr. Rowe married Miss Mary Hannah Quintrell, of Cross
roads. He left the peninsula for Bendigo six years later. After four
years on the goldfields he lived at Broken Hill for 24 years, being
shift boss on the South Mine for 11 years. Finally he moved to Wallaroo
Mines, where he worked until his death. Mrs. F. Pollard, Frederick and
Lillian May (Wallaroo Mines), Mrs. W. Jeffries and Mrs. H. Reynolds (Unley)
survive, out of a family of 12.
