OBITUARY
The death occurred on June 17 at his home, Moonta Mines, of Mr. Edward
Henry Pollard, 74. He was born at St. Just, Cornwall, and was brought to
South Australia by his parents when he was two years of age. He had thus
been a colonist for some 72 years. After a residence of seven years at
Kapunda, the family went to Moonta, where the deceased had since
resided—a period of 65 year. At an early age he began work with the
local mining company, and continued in its service until it ceased
operations, working himself up to the position of engineer. His wife
died eleven years ago. His two sons, Roy and Lloyd, served in the Great
War, the latter being invalided home and subsequently died at Keswick
Hospital. Roy, who is manager of the National Bank at Salisbury,
survives, also one daughter, Miss Maude Pollard, of Moonta Mines. Mrs.
P. Hollis, of Adelaide, is an only sister, and Mrs. T. Curnow, of Moonta,
an only niece. Deceased was associated with the Daly and Hamley
Oddfellows’ Lodge.
Transcriber's Note: Edward Henry POLLARD (son of Edward Henry
POLLARD and Martha WILLIAMS) was baptised on 12 June 1864 at Madron.
