MALDON.–Mr. James Penrose, an old and highly respected resident of Maldon, died on Monday, aged 59. The deceased was born at St. Just, Cornwall, and came to Victoria 38 years ago, the greater part of that time being spent in Maldon. Mr. Penrose took an active part in mining, and was at one time mine manager of the South German Company, and was manager of the Derby United Company, and for the Columbia mine up to the time of his death. He leaves a widow, one daughter, and three sons.
 
Transcriber's Note: According to the Victorian death index, James PENROSE was the son of William PENROSE and Elizabeth BENNETTS. He was baptised on 27 Dec 1843 at St Just in Penwith.
