MR. G. G. OLDS
Mr. George Gilbert Olds, a former alderman of the Rockdale Council, died
suddenly at his residence, Linden, Besborough-avenue, Bexley, last
Monday. Born in Cornwall in 1859, he went to New Zealand in 1881, and
came to Australia two years later. He was engaged in business in
George-street, city, as a picture frame manufacturer and art dealer from
1894 to 1920. For many years he was a director of the St. George
District Hospital, and was an alderman of the Rockdale Council from 1916
to 1919. Mr. Olds was a trustee of the Methodist Church at Arncliffe and
Bexley, and was superintendent of the Kogarah Methodist Sunday school.
He is survived by Mrs. Olds, a son, and three married daughters.
The funeral took place on Wednesday, at the Woronora Cemetery. The Rev.
W. Mowbray conducted the service, which was followed by a Masonic
service, in which officers of Lodge Covenant, Bexley, took part.

1859 at Madron, son of James OLDS and Mary Ann JILBERT.
