MRS. MARY MINER YIELDS TO STROKE
Pioneer Resident of City Died Saturday Evening at Her Home After a Long
Illness—Funeral Tuesday Afternoon
Mrs. Mary Miner of 701 North Second Street, died Saturday evening at 5
o’clock at her home after a long illness. Her death was due to old age
and stomach trouble.
She was one of the pioneer residents of the county, coming here with her
husband in 1855. She was born in Cornwall, England, in 1828 and was
married to Mr. Miner in 1848. When they came to Winnebago County they
became farmers. Mr. Miner died a year ago last June. Seven children
survive. They are William H. of Harlem, Thomas J. of Rockford, John C.
of Oregon, Abel of Oregon, James of Mason City, Ia., Mrs. Mary Wilcox of
Rockford, and Mrs Louis Oberholz of Carmel, Ill. Funeral services will
be held at 1:30 o’clock Tuesday from the home, Rev. H. M. Bannen to
officiate. Interment will be in the West Side Cemetery.
