Warden Mowbray, of Charters Towers, wired as follows to the Under Secretary of Mines yesterday:—“Samuel Henry Marks, injured on 4th instant in Brilliant Extended mine, died this morning from tetanus. I held inquiry on 17th, and on the same day, having received information that dangerous symptoms had supervened, I took his full statement at hospital. Have informed the police, and a further full magisterial inquiry will be held at once.” It appears Marks had his foot hurt. He went to work before it was properly healed, and a large piece of stone fell on the injured foot on the 4th instant, necessitating amputation.
