FALL INTO HOLD
SHIP’S OFFICER KILLED
BALLINA, Wednesday.
Frederick Hoskins, second officer on the motor ship Nimbin, was fatally injured when he fell down the hold of the vessel last night while the ship was between Lismore and Ballina.
The crew, under the direction of Hoskins, was erecting a chute for the loading of sugar when, by some unknown means, Hoskins fell 15 feet into the hold. The injured man was put ashore and conveyed by motor lorry to Coraki Hospital, where he died this morning.
Deceased was a native of Cornwall, and had no relatives in this State.
