Death of a Mining Engineer
[Special Dispatch to the Baltimore Sun]
CUMBERLAND, MD., Jan. 20.—William Hocking, an old mining engineer and
for many years a resident of Allegany county, died at his home in
Piedmont, W. Va., this morning after a short illness. Mr. Hocking leaves
a wife and seven children—three daughters, Mrs. Samuel Jeffries, of
Frostburg; Misses Nannie and Jennie Hocking, and four sons. William
Hocking, of Westernport; Nicholas R., of Piedmont, Dr. Hocking, of Mount
Savage, and Dr. George W. Hocking, of Baltimore. The funeral will take
place at Frostburg on Thursday afternoon.
