SOUTHPORT
(FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT)
September 21
One of our local medical men, Dr. Treverne Hockin, died on Saturday,
much to the regret of the whole of the inhabitants of Southport. The
deceased gentleman had won the confidence of the public by the thorough
knowledge of his profession, which he manifestly possessed; he was
esteemed for his high moral tone; and he was much liked by all classes
for the kindliness of his disposition and the urbanity which he
displayed alike to rich and poor. He had been ailing for some time, so
that his death could hardly be called a surprise. He was a native of
Cornwall, and settled in Southport some years since, being attracted to
it by the hope of re-establishing his health, which was somewhat
delicate. A large number of residents attended the funeral.
