DEATH OF AN OLD RESIDENT
Many citizens and old residents will learn with regret of the death of Mrs. W. Harman, which took place in Clarence Hospital on Saturday. Deceased had been suffering for some time from heart weakness, and was attacked a few days prior to her death by pneumonia, and from this she succumbed. Mrs. Harman was a native of Cornwall, England, and came to this State about 50 years ago. After her marriage in Sydney, she came to the Clarence in 1857, and was one of the first to open a dress-making and millinery establishment in Grafton. This business she conducted till about 14 years ago, when it was taken over by her daughters, and she went to reside at Blaxland’s Creek, on the Armidale Road. There she resided till her recent illness. Deceased was much esteemed by all who made her acquaintance, and during her long sojourn in the district had seen many changes. She leaves a widower, one son and four daughters resident in the district. Her remains were interred in the Church of England cemetery yesterday, Archdeacon Moxon officiating. Deceased was 73 years of age.
