FALL CAUSED DEATH OF MRS. MARY HAMLEY
Was 74 Years Old—Failed to Recover Following Fall on May 12—Lived in
Rockford Over 60 Years.
Mrs. Mary Wellington Hamley died Saturday just before midnight at the
home of her daughter, Mrs. Sarah Hazard, 940 Rockton avenue from the
effects of a fall suffered May 12. She did not suffer severe injuries at
the time but in the feebleness of he advanced age she could not recover.
She was born in Lostwithal, Cornwall, England, in 1833 and came to this
city in 1854. In 1856 she was married in this city to William J. Hamley.
Mr. Hamley died several years ago.
There were four children born to the couple all of whom survive, George
W. Hamley, James W. Hamley and Mrs. Sarah Hazard of Rockford and Mrs.
Richard Fiddick of Greene, Iowa. Eight grandchildren and three great
grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services were held this afternoon at the Hazard home, Rev. H. C.
Schutz officiating. Interment took place in the Cedar Bluff cemetery.
Mrs. Richard Fiddick and J. R. Fiddick were here for the funeral.
