Mr. Haley was born in Cornwall, England, March 11, 1850, and was therefore sixty-five years of age. He came directly from England to Rockford more than forty years ago and has since continuously made this city his home. His marriage to Miss Priscilla Johns was an event of March 31, 1876.
Deceased was a blacksmith by trade but for seventeen years, up to his retirement from active pursuits five years ago, he was widely and favorably known as janitor of the Hall school.
He is survived by the widow, two daughters, Mrs. Ellen. R. Wills of Rockford, and Mrs. Mary E. Bryant, of Clarion, Ia., and two sons, Arthur R. and Nicholas Haley, both of this city.
Mr. Haley was a member of long standing of the Centennial M. E. church and was affiliated with Forest City lodge No. 363 of the Sons of St. George. He was a man of clean character and strict integrity, who was faithful to every obligation of private and public life. Funeral arrangements will be announced today.
