OBITUARY
MRS JANE GUY
A very old and respected resident of the Copperfield and Clermont
districts, Mrs Jane Guy, passed away at the residence of her son, in
Clermont, after a short illness.
Mrs Guy, who was a native of Cornwall, England, was 87 years of age, and
came to Australia in the sailing boat Hampshire with her husband,
landing at Rockhampton. The couple arrived in Copperfield 59 years ago,
travelling overland by coach.
The late Mr Guy was employed at Copperfield mine for many years, after
which the family moved to Clermont. In 1896 Mr Guy passed away, and Mrs
Guy resided with her son Richard up to the time of her death.
The surviving family are Mrs S. Withers (Clermont), Christopher (Rockhampton),
George (Blair Athol), and Richard (Clermont). There are also 14
grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
The funeral moved from the Methodist Church, of which the deceased had
been a member for 50 years. The Rev. H. V. Miller conducted the burial
services at the church and at the graveside.
