Thursday 12 February 1931 ELLIS. - Mr. George Ellis, a well-known identity in mining circles, died at his residence, St. Just Point, yesterday. Deceased was 73 years of age, and was the oldest member of the Watson Sustentation Fund, of which he was on three occasions president. He was also a committeeman and trustee of the fund for many years. It was largely through his efforts, with those of the late Mr. William Harris, that the fund has been available to help miners in distressed circumstances. He was a member of the Loyal Albert Lodge for many years. The late Mr. Ellis was of a genial disposition, and was held in high esteem by all sections of the community. He leaves a widow and seven children - Jane (Mrs. R. J. Blamey), William, Lily (Mrs. F. C. Girdleston), George, Eda (Mrs. S. E. Henry), Charles, and Eva (Mrs. E. Shattock).
