The Barrier Miner, Saturday 14 July 1906
(Broken Hill, New South Wales)

Another old identity, "Dick" Bowden, passed away at Euriowie on Saturday morning last. He apparently died whilst asleep during the early hours of Saturday morning. On receiving information by wire Constable Williamson proceeded to Euriowie. No suspicious circumstances prevailing, the coroner dispensed with an inquiry, and the remains were interred in the local cemetery. A large concourse of residents and friends attended the funeral. The burial service was appropriately rendered by Mr. Charles Bosh, of Mount Bannister. The deceased was a resident of the Barrier for the past 35 years. He was 70 years of age, and old-age pensioner, and was a native of Cornwall, England. He appeared to live comfortably and respectably on his pension, incurred no debts and left £4 10s. in his effects, which was taken possession of by the curator’s agent. After the expenses of burial are defrayed the balance will be returned again to the Government. The deceased was highly respected by all with whom he came in contact.
