Mr. William Bolitho died on Wednesday at his residence in Breen-street, Quarry Hill, at the age of 62 years. He was a native of Penzance, but came to Victoria very early, and spent the greater part of his life at Sebastian, where he followed up mining pursuits. About six years ago he came to reside in Bendigo. For some years he suffered from chronic bronchitis and asthma, and latterly it was apparent that he was failing. Mr. Bolitho was a man of sterling upright character and generally respected. He leaves a widow and a large family by his first wife. Of five daughters, four are married, two residing in Western Australia, one at Sebastian and another at Neilborough. One son resides at Sebastian and another at Neilborough, and the youngest son and daughter resided with their father in Bendigo. Mr. Bolitho also has a sister living, Mrs. Ellery, who, with her husband, was in Bendigo yesterday, when the funeral took place, leaving Mr. Bolitho's late residence en route for the Bendigo Cemetery, where his remains were interred in the Presbyterian portion. A large number of friends attended to pay their last tribute of respect, and the coffin was borne to the grave by four of the deceased's nephews, Messrs. G. and A. Ellery and W. R. and C. Bolitho. The Rev. W. W. Smith held a short service at the house and also solemnised the burial service at the grave, where he referred in appropriate terms to example left by Mr. Bolitho's Christian life and character. The funeral arrangements were carried out by Mr. T. Sayer, of Bridge-street.
