Mrs. Ellen Birt, relict of the late Mr. G. W. Birt, late of Tambellup, but formerly of River Murray (N.S.W.) and South Australia, died at her residence, Serpentine-road, Albany, on Sunday night, in her 85th year. The deceased lady was a native of Cornwall (Eng.) and came to Australia in her early girlhood, being, with her husband, among the pioneers of New South Wales. Mrs. Birt was the mother of 13 children, ten of whom survive, including Nurse Margaret Birt, R.R.C., and Mrs. F. Bradshaw, of Albany. Several sons rendered conspicuous war service and attained high honors in the field. One paid the supreme sacrifice. The remains of Mrs. Birt were railed to Pindellup for interment. Mr. H. C. Prior carried out the burial arrangements.
