The late Mr. Bate was born in Cornwall, England, and resided in America

ago. He was engaged in gold-mining there for almost 19 years, and then
his health failing he moved to Buderim. Lately he had lived in
Mooloolaba. He is survived by a widow, three sons, and two
daughters—Messrs. A. Bate (Corinda), S. G. Bate (Eudlo), E. Bate, Mrs.
R. D. Pope (Buderim), and Miss C. Bate (Mooloolaba). The funeral took
place to the Woombye-Palmwoods Cemetery yesterday, the Rev. N. H.
Grimmet, of the Palmwoods Methodist Church, conducting the service at
the graveside.
