DEATHS
BARNES.—On January 25, at Carn Brea, Kirkham Hill-terrace, Maylands,
Rebecca Ellen, relict of the late James Barnes, Coburg, Victoria, late
of Newlyn, Penzance, Cornwall, England, beloved mother of James Barnes,
chemist, Minyip; Thomas Barnes, tram inspector, Melbourne; Richard
Barnes, Cottesloe, and Mrs. Alfred V. Weaver, Maylands, in her 80th
year.
He giveth His beloved sleep.

FUNERALS
The funeral of the late Mrs. Rebecca Ellen Barnes, relict of the late
James Barnes, of Coburg, Victoria, took place on the 27th inst., and was
attended by a large number of relatives and friends. The deceased lady
was born at Cornwall, England, and was a colonist of 47 years’ standing.
The cortege moved from Messrs. Bowra and O’Dea’s private mortuary, in
Pier-street, and proceeded to the Methodist Cemetery at Karrakatta,
where the remains were laid to rest, the Rev. Milton R. Maley conducting
the burial service. The chief mourners were Mr. R. Barnes (son), Mrs. A.
V. Weaver (daughter), Mr. W. T. Lewis (son-in-law), Mrs. R. Barnes
(daughter-in-law), Mrs. C. Lewis (grand-daughter-in-law), Messrs. C.
Lewis, A. Lewis, W. Baker, and W. Barnes (grandsons). A large number of
wreaths, floral tributes, letters, and telegrams of sympathy were
received. The funeral arrangements were in the hands of Messrs Bowra and
O’Dea.
