Land Grant, Nether Polscoth, St Winnow, dated 24 May 1369
(N.B. These 2 documents confirm that on the 24 May 1369,
William QUYNTE, acting on behalf Robert KERNET (chaplain) granted the land
called Trubodyston within Neyarapolcosthe, to John (son of Walter TRUBODY), his
wife Alice (daughter of Nicholas de CASTEL) and to their lawful heirs. The
document was witnessed at Lostwithiel, Cornwall, England.)
Sciant presentes et futuri quod Ego Robertus KERNET capellanus dedi et concessi
et hac presenti carta mea confirmavi per me et heredibus meis Johni filio
Walteri TRUBODY et alicie uxori sue filie Nicolayi deCASTEL et heredibus inter
eosdem legitime procreatis seu procreandis omnia mesuagia terras et tenementa
mea cum pertinentiis in Trubodyston in feudo de Neyarapolcosthe habend omnia
predicta terras et tenementa cum pertinentiis suis predictis Jhoni alicie uxori
sue et heredibus inter eosdem legitime procreatis seu procreandis libere quiete
bene et in pace Jure hereditario inperpetuum Tened de capituli domino per
Servitia debita et consueta Et si continget quod predicta Johns et alicia sine

constitui et in loco mea posui dilectum .... in .... Willm QUYNTE ad ponend
Johanem filium Walteri TRUBODI et aliciam uxorem suam filiam Nicholi de CASTEL
in plenam et pacificam seysinam in omnibus mensuagiis terris et tenementum et
pertinentijs suis in carta feofamentum plenni continent In cuius rey testimonium
sigillum meum apposui Data apud Lostwythyel die Jovis proximia ante festum
augustini anglorum apostoli anno Regni regis Edwardi Tertii post conquestum
anglie quadragesimo tertio
They could be translated as;
Know present and future that I, Robert KERNET, chaplain, have given and granted,
and by this my present charter have confirmed by me and my heirs, to John the
son of Walter TRUBODY and Alice his wife, the daughter of Nicholas DeCASTEL, and
to the heirs between them lawfully begotten, or to be begotten, all my messuages,
lands and tenements, with their appurtenances, in Trubodyston in the feudal
estate of Neyarapolcosthe, all the aforesaid lands and tenements with their
appurtenances to be had forever to the aforesaid John, Alice his wife, and to
the heirs between them lawfully begotten or to be begotten, freely, quietly,
peacefully and in hormony, by right of inheritance, holding of the principal
lord by due service and custom.
And if it should happen that the aforesaid John and Alice die without heirs
between them lawfully begotten or to be begotten, I wish and grant that all the
aforesaid messuages, lands and tenements with their appurtenances revert
entirely forever to the aforesaid Robert, and my heirs to warrant and defend
forever the holding of all the aforesaid lands, tenements and messuages with
appurtenances to the aforesaid John, Alice his wife, and the heirs between them
lawfully begotten or to be begotten.
In which matter I have placed my seal to the present charter, with these
testators John MOYL senior John MOYL junior Robert STONARD Richard LOUR John
FRIEM? Richard NICOL and others.
Given at Lostwithiel on Thursday nearest before the Feast of Augustine Anglorum
apostle the forty third year of the reign of Edward 3rd after the Conquest.
Be it known to all, from this, that I Robert KERNET chaplain in ordinary have
appointed, in place of me, the esteemed William QUYNTE to put John son of Walter
TRUBODI and Alice his wife daughter of Nicholas De CASTEL in full and peaceful
seisin of all messuages, lands and tenements and their appurtenances contained
in the charter of enfeoffment. In testimony, I have attached my seal. Given at
Lostwythyel on Thursday nearest before the Feast of Augustine Anglorum apostle
the forty third year of the reign of Edward 3rd after the Conquest.
