Will of Elizabeth Bowden, dated 5 February 1748

In the name of God Amen I Elizabeth Bowden of the Parish of
Tywardreth in the County of Cornwall Widdow Being of a Sound and
Disposing Mind and Memory Thanks be therefore given to Almighty
God and Calling to mind the uncertainty of this Life doe take
this Opportunity to Make this my last Will and Testament hereby
Revoking all former Will and Wills by me at any time or Times
hitherto Made And first I Recommend my Soul into the hands of
Almighty God who first gave it me hoping Through his Mercy and
the Meritts and Satisfaction of my Blessed Saviour Jesus Christ
to obtain pardon and Remission of all my Sins and to Inheritt
Everlasting Life And my Body I committ to the Earth to be Buried
with Decent Christian Burial after the Discretion of my Executor
and as for the worldly Estate and Effects which God hath been
pleased to bestow on me I give Devise and bequeath the Same in
Manner and form following That is to Say I give and Bequeath unto
my son Ambrose Bowden Seven Pounds good and Lawfull Money of
Great Brittain I give and bequeath unto my Daughter Margaret
Emmett
the Wife of William Emmett of Port Isack the Sum of Four
Pounds of good and Lawfull Money of great Brittain I give and
bequeath unto my Daughter Jane Bowden Seven Pounds of good and
Lawfull money of great Brittain I likewise give and bequeath more
unto my Daughter Jane Bowden One feather Bed furnished all as it
Standeth being the bed that I lies upon my Self and One Brass Pot
and all Sorts of Other Houshold goods such as my Executor shall
think proper that may be befitting for her Use I give and
bequeath unto my Daughter Grace Stuckey One Guinea of Gold to the
value of Twety One Shillings of good and Lawfull money of Great
Brittain All the rest of my Goods Chattles and Effects of what
kind or Nature Soever they be not herein before given or
bequeathed I give and bequeath unto my Son John Bowden which I
doe hereby make Constitute and Appoint my whole and Sole Executor
of this my last Will and Testament In paying all my Just Debts
and Legacies In Witness whereof I have hereunto Set my hand and
Seal this Fifth day of February In the Year of our Lord Christ
One Thousand Seven Hundred and Forty Eight
