Will of Roger Renoden, dated 8 July 1746
In the Name of God Amen I Roger Renoden of the
parish of Towednack in the County of Cornwall Yeoman being weake in Body
but of Sound & perfect Mind and Memory praise be therefore Given to
Almighty God Do this Eighth Day of July in the Year of our Lord 1746
make Publish and Declare this my Last Will and Testament in Manner
following (That is to say) First I commend my Soul into the hands of
Almighty God that Gave it and my Body to the Earth to be Decently Buried
According to the Discretion of my Executor hereafter named and as for my
Temporal Estate wherewith it hath pleased Almighty God to bestow upon me
I Give and Dispose thereof as follows.
First I will that my Just Debts and funeral Charges shall be paid and
Discharged by my Executor hereinafter named.
Also I Give and Bequeath unto my loving wife Catherine Renoden One
annuity or Yearly Rent Charge of Six pounds of Lawfull Money of Great
Brittain the same to be paid to her by Even quarterly payments out of
all and Singular my Messuage Lands and Tenement with the Appurtences in
or Called Trevessa Otherwise Treveja situate lyeing and being in the
said parish of Towednack The first quarters payment thereof to begin and
be made at the end of Three Months next after my Decease To have and to
hold the same unto my said wife Catherine Renoden and her assigns for
and During the Terme of her Natural life in case the Estate now therein
or any future Estate which my Executor shall take in the same shall so
long Continue and Endure, And I do hereby impower my said Wife in case
the said Annuity is not paid her quarterly According to the True Intent
and meaning hereof to Enter and Distrain in and upon the said premisses
as the Law in that Case Directs; I also give unto my said Wife House
Room in my said Dwelling House in Trevesa aforesaid for her to live in
and a Bed and Convenient Household Goods therein for her use to be
Enjoyed by her during her natural life and no longer.
Also I Give and Bequeath unto my Son Roger Renoden All that my Messuage
Tenement and premisses with the Appurtenances in and Called Trevalgen
Situate lyeing and being in the Parish of St. Ives in the said County of
Cornwall and now in the possession of my said Son Roger Renoden at a
Rack or Yearly Rent To have and to hold the same unto my said Son Roger
Renoden his Exects Admns and Assigns from and Imediately after my Death
for and during the Residue and Remainder of the Estate and Terme which
shall be then to come and Expire of and in the said premisses by Vertue
of the Original Lease or Leases thereof But my Will is that my sd. Son
Roger Renoden shall pay out of the said Estate in Trevalgen Unto my
Daughter Elizabeth (now the Wife of John Curnow of Towednack) the Sum of
Twenty pounds to be payable at the End of Twelve Months next after my
Decease, and I do hereby give and Bequeath the sd. Twenty Pounds unto my
sd. Daughter Elizabeth accordingly
Also I give and Bequeath unto my Daughter Catherine the Wife of John
Osborn of Towednack aforesd. Twenty pounds Sterling to be paid her in
Twelve Months next after my Decease.
Also I Give and Bequeath unto my Daughter Mary the Wife of Thomas Curnow
of Towednack aforesd. The Sum of Twenty Pounds Sterling to be paid her
in Twelve Months next after my Decease Provided the said Thomas Curnow
doth release & Discharge my Executor of and from the Ten Pounds which I
promised him in Marriage with my said Daughter and not Otherwise.
Also I Give and Bequeath unto my Daughter Ann Renoden Twenty Pounds
Sterling to be paid her in Twelve Months next after my Decease.
Also I Give and Bequeath unto my Son in Law Robert Phillipps and to his
Daughter Margaret One Shilling to each of them.
Lastly all the Rest and Residue of my Real and Personal Estate Goods and
Chattells whatsoever and wheresoever I do hereby Give and Bequeath the
same unto my Son John Renoden whom I do hereby make Ordain and Appoint
Whole and Sole Executor of this my last Will and Testament hereby
Revoking all former and Other Wills by me heretofore made In witness
whereof I the within named Roger Renoden have to this my Last Will and
Testament Sett my Hand and Seal the Day and Year first within written.

| The above written Will was proved in Common Form
the 4th Day of September 1746 Before the Rev. Mr. William Waddon
Clk Mr. of Arts Official etc. And Admion of the Goods etc. of
the said Decd. And of all things howsoever Conerning his said
Wife was Granted to the Executor therein named (being first in
due form of Law Swonre, etc.)Saveing etc. |
