Will of James Hoskin, dated 13 April 1742

In The name of God amen The Thirteenth day of April in the year of our Lord God One Thousand Seaven Hundred Forty and Two. I James Hoskin of the parish of Tintagell in the County of Cornwall being in good health and perfect and disposing Memory Thanks be Given unto Almighty God for the same Do hereby make and ordain this my last Will and Testament in manner and Form following hereby revoking and making – void all former Wills and Testaments by me either by words Or writing here to fore made. In primis I Committ my Soul into the Hands of my Gracious and Mercifull Redeemer and my Body to be decently buried at the Discretion Of my Executrix hereafter named. Item I Give and Bequeath unto my Son Paskoe Hoskin and Richard Hoskin the Sum of one Shilling a piece to be paid them respectively. (Between ‘a piece’ and ‘Item 1’ words have been crossed out and ‘to be paid them respectively’ written above the crossed out words). Item I give and Bequest unto my Son Christopher Hoskin the Sum of Three pounds. Item I Give and Bequeath unto My Grandchild James Hoskin Son of my Son Christopher all my Right Title and Interest in all my Lands which I have in Bofsinnay Lands Which lyeth within the Borrough of Bofsinney and Trevena in Tintagel To him his Heires and his Ofsignes forever and the Sum of Three pounds To be paid to him. Item I Give and Bequeath unto my Grand Children Paskoe, William and Emblim Hoskin and Mary Cheverton the Sum of One Shilling a Piece to be paid them respectively. Item I give and Bequeath unto my Grand Children John and Anne Parsons the Sum Of three pounds apiece to be paid them respectively. I Likewise appoint Ordain and this my Will and desire that John Robins doe Surrender My Field in Trevellick which lyeth within this said Parish of Tintagel Unto my Daughter Ann Parsons my Executrix hereafter named. Lastly All the Rest of my Goods Chattels, Debts, Bills, Bonds, Personal Estates Whatsoever not hereby formerly Given or Bequeathed I do hereby Give and devise and Bequeath unto Ann Persons Widdow my – Daughter whom I make Nominate and appoint to be the whole And Sole Executrix of this my last Will and Testaument. In Witness Whereof I have hereunto Set my Hand and Seal the day and year First above Written. ~ And tis my Will and desire that all my Legacies be paid by my Executrix within Twelve months after my ~ Decease

The within written will of the within-named James Hosken was prov’d In common form before the Rev . Mr. Jonathan Baron Clerk Surrogate &c. the 31st of Oct: 1747. And Admion of the Goods Etc of said Deced, and of all things Howsoever concerning the said Will was granted to the Exect. therein named, (Being first Sworn etc) Saving? etc.
