Will of Martha Burn, dated 11 April 1748

In The Name of God Amen. I Martha Burn of Whiteford
in the County of Cornwall Widow being at present Infirme in Body but of
a
Sound and disposeing mind and memory for which I Praise Almighty God
do while I have Opportunity make and declare this my last Will and
Testament
hereby Revokeing and Annulling any former or other Will or Wills by me
here-
-tofore made. And first I Commend my Soul to God who Gave me it hopeing
through
his mercy and the meritts and Satisfaction of my Blessed Saviour Jesus
Christ
to obtain Pardon for all my Sins and to Inheritt Eternal Life and my
Body I
Committ to the Earth to be decently Interred according to the discretion
and
direction of my Executors hereinafter mentioned. And now for Settling
the
Temporal Estate which God in his mercy hath bestowed upon me and for
Preventing any dispute or Controversie about the Same I Give and dispose
thereof in manner following (that is to Say) I Give and devize unto my
Daughter Martha BURN all my messuages Lands Tenements and Hereditaments
with the Appurtenances Lying at Whiteford in the Parish of Stoke
Climsland
which are parcell of the Antient Dutchy of Cornwall. As also my
Household Goods and Chattels that I shall be possessed of at the time of
my
Death But if in Case my Said Daughter Martha BURN Should not live to the
age of Twenty one years or be married that then in Such Case I Give
and devize unto my Nephew Tuke Jewell and to my Neice Joan Jewell
Jointly and Equally alike all my Lands Messuages Tenements and
Hereitaments
with the appurtenances above mentioned together with all my Goods and
Chattels whatsoever they the said Tuke and Joan Jewell paying Such
Legacies
as I Shall hereinafter Give and Bequeath. And first I Give and Bequeath
unto the Issue of my Brother John KNOWLES to each and every of them the
Sum of one Shilling. And I also Give and Bequeath unto Honour Calvert
the Sum of Twenty Pounds of Lawfull money of Great Britain to be paid to
her or her Heires at the Death of my Said Daughter Martha Burn or as
Soon
after as Conveniently may be. And I do make nominate and appoint
John Doidge Gent and Thomas CALVERT Joint Executors and Trustees of
this my last Will and Testament and I do hereby declare it to be my
True intent and meaning That the said John Doidge and Thomas Calvert
Shall have full power to Lett, Sett or otherwise Improve my said Lands
Messuages Tenements or Hereditaments in Such a manner as they
the said John Doidge and Thomas Calvert Shall think most for the

Interest and advantage of my Said Daughter Martha Burn untill She
my Said Daughter Martha Shall attaine the age of Twenty one years or be
married as aforesaid at which time they the said John Doidge and Thomas
Calvert Shall deliver to my Said Daughter in Writing a true and perfect
Account of all monies Proffits or advantages that may have accrued from
my Said Lands Messuages and Tenements as aforesaid Paying and Yeilding
the same (if any be) unto her my Said Daughter. And that I further
declare
that my Said Daughter Martha Burn Shall pay or Cause to be paid all
Disburstments, Costs, Charges and other Expenses that they the Said John
Doidge and Thomas Calvert may have been att or laid out in the Executing
of this Trust. In Witness whereof I have Published this to be my
Last Will
and Testament to which I have Sett my Hand and Seale this Eleventh day
of Aprill in the Twenty first year of the Reigne of our Sovereigne Lord

Defender of the Faith and So forth And in the year of Our Lord One

Seven Hundred and Forty Eight
Signed and Sealed by the said Martha Burn
and by her Self Published and declared to be
her last Will and Testament in the presence
of us who Subscribed our names as Witnesses

The before written Will of the abovenamed Martha Burn deced
was Proved in comon Forme the 17th Day of June 1748 Before
the Reverend Mr William Waddon Clk Mr of Arts Official etc and
Admion of the Goods etc of the Said Deced and of all things
howsoever concerning the Said Will was Granted to John Doidge
and Thomas Calvert the joynt Exerts in Trust therein named,
(Being first Sworne etc) Saveing etc)
