DEVON (to wit)
To the Churchwardens, and Overseers of the Poor of the Parish of
Stoke Damerel in the said County of Devon and to the Churchwardens
and Overseers of the Poor of the Parish of Sheviock in the
County of Cornwall and to each and every of them.
Upon the Complaint of the Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor of the
Parish of Stoke Damerel aforesaid in the said County of Devon,
unto us whose names are hereunto set, and Seals affixed, being two of
His Majesty’s Justices of the Peace in and for the said County of
Devon and one of us of the Quorum, that George Allen, Elizabeth
Allen, his wife and their two children, Mary Ann Allen, aged about
eleven years, and Grace Allen aged about nine years, the said Mary Ann
and Grace having done no …. to gain a settlement in their own right
have come to inhabit in the said Parish of Stoke Damerel not
having gained a legal Settlement nor produced any Certificate, owning
themselves to be settled elsewhere and that the said George
Allen, Elizabeth Allen his wife and their said two children, Mary Ann
and Grace are actually chargeable to the said Parish of Stoke
Damerel
We the said Justices upon due proof made thereof, as well upon
Examination of the said George Allen upon Oath, as otherwise, and
likewise upon due consideration had of the Premises, to adjudge the same
to be true ; and we do likewise adjudge that the last lawful Settlement
of the said George Allen, Elizabeth Allen his wife and their said two
children, Mary Ann and Grace is in the said Parish of Sheviock
in the said County of Cornwall
We do therefore require you the said Churchwardens and Overseers of the
Poor in the said Parish of Stoke Damerel in the said County of
Cornwall or some, or one of you, to convey the Said George Allen,
Elizabeth Allen his wife and their said two children, Mary Ann and Grace
from out of your said Parish of Stoke Damerel to the said
Parish of Sheviock and them to deliver to the Churchwardens
and Overseers of the Poor there, or to some or one of them, together
with this our Order, or a true copy thereof at the same time shewing
them the Original ; and we do also hereby require you, the said
Churchwardens and Overseers of the the Poor of the said Parish of
Sheviock to receive and provide for them as Inhabitants of
your said Parish
Given under our Hands and Seals, the twentieth Day of October
in the fifty ninth year of the Reign of His said Majesty George
the third and in the Year of our Lord One Thousand Eight Hundred
and nineteen
