WORDEN, William Lewis

 
William Lewis WORDEN was born in 1883 at Buckland Monachorum, Devon, his birth being registered in the December Q of that year (Tavistock Registration District).
 
1891 census : Aged 7, living with his parents, Thomas and Harriett, in Buckland Monachorum, with siblings John. Thomas, Henry and Emmanuel. His father was an agricultural labourer, his mother a general domestic servant.
 
1901 census: Aged 17 on board HMS Impregnable, Training Ship for Boys, at Hamoaze, Devonport.
 
1911 census: Aged 27 Able Seaman on board the Armoured Cruiser HMS Devonshire at Devonport.
