COOMBE, William

  Believed to be William Henry COOMBE son of Francis & Alice COOMBE. He was born at Landrake in 1885, his birth being registered in the December Q of that year at St. Germans (5c 41).
 
1891 census aged 5 living with parents & siblings at Lowerton, Landrake, Cornwall.
 
1901 census aged 15 living with parents & siblings at Landrake Village, Cornwall.
 
1911 Census aged 26, married, aboard HMS Savage at Devonport. Stoker 1st Class

HMS Marmion was a 2-year-old class M Destroyer. On the 21st of October 1917 she was in the North Sea off Lerwick, Shetland Islands escorting a convoy from Norway.
The weather was bad and she collided with the destroyer Tirade, as a consequence she sank. HMS Marmion had a compliment of 80 fortunately the loss of life was not great.
