Probate Copy Will of Stephen Giles, dated 8 October 1747

In the Name of God Amen. I Stephen Giles of the Parish of Roach in the County of Cornwall yeoman being somewhat indisposed in Body but of Sound mind and memory (praised be God for it) Do constitute ordain and make this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following hereby revoking all former Wills and Testaments by me at any time heretofore made.
Imprimis I do with all humble Submission to the divine pleasure resine my Soul into the Hands of Almighty God my Creator in full hopes of receiving pardon of all my Sins and being made partaker of Eternal Bliss by all the Sufficient merits and powerfull intercession of my Blessed Saviour Christ Jesus
Item I bequeath my Body to the Earth to be decently interred at the Charge of my Executor hereinafter named
Item I Give and Bequeath unto my son Stephen this my dwelling house I now live in, Oxen House and the Garden the three Bootsions, the higher meadow, the little meadow in Lowertown, three acres in the Higher End of the Great Close, the one park and the little furse Brake under after my decease, and liberty to take out of the Ground all the potatoes that shall be in it at my decease and all places above the Court gate for making Dung, and all the Lumber Stuff alike Between Stephen and my son Richard, all outgoing to be paid alike and Equal. And likewise to Stephen the Bee Garden.
Item I Give and Bequeath unto my son Cornelius the Sum of three pounds at the end of one year after my decease to be paid by my Executor
Item I Give and Bequeath unto my son William the sum of Forty Shillings to be paid by my Executor Twelve months after my decease
Item I Give unto my son Richard all the rest of my Estate in Colebiggan that have not been Bequeathed to Stephen but not to be sold without the consent of Stephen after my decease and all my Estate in Griglands after my decease
Item I Give to my Daughter Prudence Forty shillings to be paid by my Executor at the End of Twelve months after my decease
Item all the rest and residue of my Goods and Chattels and personal Estate not before Given I devise unto my son John whom I make and appoint my whole and sole Executor Excepting the two fields in Withiel called by the name of Catergates after his decease unto Cornelius and William so equal in and throughout
In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my Hand and Seal this Eighth day of October One Thousand Seven Hundred Forty and Seven and likewise all the .... I acknowledge and the easier Stephen and Richard

in our presence and by us as witnesses in
his presence

The within written Will of the within named Stephen Giles was Proved in common Forme Before the Reverend Mr Jonathan Baron Clk Surrogate etc 18 Decr 1747 and admion of the Goods etc of the said Decd and of all things howsoever concerning the said Will was Granted to the Exor. therein named being first Sworn etc Saveing etc. No Inventry Exhibited

The within written Will is a true Copy Examined and Compared with the Original
