Probate Copy Will of William Giles, dated 24 January 1746

In the Name of God Amen. I William Giles Mariner of the Parish of Roach in the County of Cornwall being in Bodily Health and Sound and Disposing Mind and Memory and Considering the perils and Dangers of the Seas and Other Uncertaintyes of this Transitory life do for avoiding Controversies after my Decease make Publish and Declare this my last Will and Testament in manner following That is to say First I recommend my Soul to God that gave it and my Body I commit to the Earth or Sea as it shall please God to Order; and for and concerning my Worldly Estate I Give Bequeath and Dispose thereof as follows That is to say To my Dearly Beloved Friend William Giles of the Burrough of Lostwithiel in the County of Cornwall all my Wages Sum and Sums of Money Lands Tenements Goods Chattells and Estate whatsoever as shall be anywise due oweing or belonging to me at the time of my Decease I Give Devise and Bequeath the same unto my Dearly Beloved Friend William Giles of the Burrough of Lostwithiel in the County of Cornwall. And I do hereby Nominate and Appoint the said William Giles to be my Executor of this my last Will and Testament hereby revoking all former and other Wills and Testaments and Deeds of Gift by me at any time heretofore made. And I do Ordain and Ratify these presents to Hand and Co for my only last Will and Testament. In Witness whereof to this my said Will I have sett my hand and Seal the Twenty Fourth Day of January in the seventeenth Year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord George the Second Over Great Brittain France and Ireland King Defender of the Faith etc Anno Dom 1746

The beforewritten Will was Proved in Common form the 17th July 1747 Before the Revd. Mr Wm Waddon Clerk Master of Arts Official etc and Admion of the Goods etc of the Decd and of all things howsoever Concerning the said Will was Granted to the Executor therein named being first Sworne etc And Oath being first made etc Saveing and so forth
