KNOW ALL MEN BY THESE PRESENTS that we Francis Honey, Tinner, and John Honey, Carpenter, both of the Parish of Saint Stephens in Branwell in the County of Cornwall are held and firmly bound unto Richard Varcoe and Robert Dyer Yeomen Churchwardens of the Parish of Roach in the said County and John Robins and William Hawkey Yeomen Overseers of the Poor of the same Parish of Roach in the sum of FIFTY POUNDS of lawful money of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland of English value and currency to be paid unto the said Richard Varcoe Robert Dyer John Robins and William Hawkey their executors administrators or assigns or to their successors in office for which payment will and faithfully to be made we bind ourselves and each of us by himself for and in the whole our heirs executors and administrators of each of us firmly by these presents sealed with our seals, dated this twenty second day of September in the of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and eighteen.

THE CONDITION of this obligation is such THAT WHEREAS Elizabeth Wedlake of the Parish of Roach aforesaid single woman upon examination lately taken before Henry Hawkins Tremayne one of his Majesty’s Justices of the Peace in and for the said County hath declared upon oath that she is with Child or Children and that the said Francis Honey is the Father of such Child or Children And whereas the said Child or Children may become chargeable to the said Parish of Roach. If therefore the above bounden Francis Honey and John Honey or either of them their or either of their heirs executors or administrators do and shall within six days after the birth of the said child or children well and truly pay or cause to be paid unto the said Churchwardens and Overseers or some or one of them or their successors for the time being the sum of FORTY SHILLINGS, and also the sum of one shilling and nine pence weekly and every week from the day of the birth of such child or children till such child or children shall have attained the age or ages of nine years and no longer then this present obligation to be void and of no effect or else to remain in full force and virtue.
