Know all Men that these presants that I James Hoskin of the parish of Roach in the County of Cornwall Tiner am held and firmly bound unto Joseph Stick? and Samuel Blake Church Wardens and Charles Faro? and William Stephens Overseers of the Poor of the parish of Roach aforesaid (In Trust for the Parishioners of the said Parish) in forty pounds of Good and Lawfull Money of Great Britain To be paid to the said Joseph Stick Samuel Blake Charles Faro and William Stephens or Their certain attorney their certain Executors administrators or assigns To which payment well and truly to be made I bind myself my Heirs Executors administrators formley By those presents sealed with my Seal Dated this Ninth Day of December in the thirty third year of the Reign of our soverign Lord George the Third by the Grace of God of Great Britain France and Ireland King Defender of the Faith and soforth and in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and Ninty Two.

The Condition of this obligation is such that Whereas Mary Retallick of the parish of Roach aforesaid singlewoman is now Great with Child or Children and the said Child or Children is or are likely to be born a Bastard or Bastards and to be Chargeable to the said parish of Roach Therefore the said James Hoskin his Heirs Executers or administrators do and shall from time to time and at all times hereafter fully and clearly indemnify and are harmless as well as the abovenamed Church wardens and overseers of the poor of the said parish of Roach and their successors for the time being as also and singular. the other parishioners – and inhabants of the said parish of Roach which now are or hearafter shall be for the time being of and from all manor of Costs Taxes Rates also assessments and charges whatsoever for or by Reason of the Birth Education and maintenance of the said Child or Children and of and from all actions suits and other charges and demands whatsoever touching or concerning the Same then this present obligation to be void otherwise of full force and virtue.
