Will of Henry Thurlby, dated 13 September 1655

In the name of God Amen
I Henry THURLBY of the parish of Uny Redruth in the County of Cornwall Yeoman beinge in good health and in perfect minde and memory Praised be God, Doo make and declare this my last will and Testament in manner and forme following It: First I bequeath my Soule into the hands of All-mighty God my Creator being assured by the merits and merycies of my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ of pardon and forgiveness of all my Sinnes and offenses And my body to Christian buryall Item I give unto each of my brother Thomas THURLBYES Children as a remembrance Twelve pence a peece Item I give unto my
Sister Margery PASCOW five shillings Item I give unto my said sister Margerie’s Children Twelve pence apiece Item I give unto my sister Katherine COLE five Shillings and to each of her Children twelve pence a peece Item I give and bequeath unto my granddaughter Mary HOCKIN
Twenty shillings a yeare to be paid her by my Executor here after named yearely at the Feast of Saint Michaell the Archangell for the Space of twenty yeares after my decease And in case shee be not paid yearly as aforesaid Then my will is and I doe hereby give grant and devise unto my said granddaughter all that on a Close of lands called Parke Anfoune a parrcll of my Tenement called the Middle Caydrew in lieu of the said Twenty Shillings a year duyr-inge the said terme Item I give and bequeath unto Jane my wife the ?--- or halfendtale of all my beaste goods Cattells and Chattells my debts legacies and funerall expences first paid and discharged To have and to hold to my said wife during her life time provided and upon condicion that shee continue and live and dwell together in howse with my Executors and doe contin-ue and the sole and unmarried and doe pay and beare the half of all rates rents and other Charges and burthens what soever but if it shall happen that my said wife shall departe and goe away from my said Executors shall marry againe Then my will is And I doe hereby give and bequeath unto my said wife the Summe of Twenty pounds only to be paid her within six monethes ?---- after her departure or marriage aforesaid And that then after her departureor marriage shee shall not intermeddle or have any thinge to doe or say to or with a ?----of my beaste goods Cattell or Chattles what soever Item all the rest and other of my beaste goods Cattlls and Chattles not before given nor bequeathed I doe give and bequeath unto my Sonne in lawe John HOCKIN and Florence his wife my daughter whom I doe hereby nominate ordaine and appoint my whole and Sole Executors And further my will intent and meaning is that if my Said Sonne in lawe and fflorence his wife dye and have noe issue of their bodies then liveinge That all my Tenement called the middle Cardrew and the five ?--- ?--- ?---- to shall remayne and comit unto my nephew John THURLBY during all the forne that shalle then to expire of and in the pyrmisses if the estate that I have therein shall ere longe continue and endure And I doe hereby intreate my said nephew John THURLBY to be my overseer and that hee will doe his best and endeavour to see this my will observed and performed In Witness whereof I the said Henry THURLBY have herewith put my hand and Seale upon the Fifteenth day of September in the yeare of the Incarnacon of our Lord God one Thousand six hundred Fifty five Sealed The Signe of Henry THURLBY Sealed and acknowledged as the Last will and testament of the said Henry THURLBY in presence of Hugh PAWLEY George TREWEEKE John DANIELL his Signe of Redruth John EVA
