Will of Matthew Prisk, dated 8 June 1746

In the Name of God Amen I Matthew Prisk of the parish of Redruth in the County of Cornwall Tinner being weak in Body but of a Sound and perfect Mind Disposeing Memory and Understanding Praise be therefore Given to Almighty God for the same Do make and Ordain this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following (that is to say) Chiefly and first of all I commend my Soul into the hands of Almighty God hopeing thro’ the Merrits Mediation and Intercession of my Saviour Jesus Christ to have full and free Pardon for all my Sins and to Inherit everlasting life__And my Body I commit to the Earth to be decently Buried at the Discretion of my Executor hereafternamed and as touching the Disposition of all such Wordly Goods and Effects which it hath pleased God to Bless me with in this Life I Give and Bequeath as followeth. First I will that my Funeral Charges shall be paid and Discharged Item I Give and Bequeath unto Thomas Prisk Son to my Brother Thomas Prisk the Sum of One Guinea and halfe to be paid him by my Executors within One Year after my decease. Item I Give and Bequeath unto Joseph Prisk another Son to my Brother Thomas Prisk One Beadsteed togeather with as much Money as will make it up to the Value of One Guinea and halfe to be paid and Delivered him by my Exectors within one Year after my Decease Item I Give and Bequeath unto Jane the Daughter of my Brother Thomas Prisk the Sume of an halfe a Guinea to be paid her within one Year after my Decease Item I Give unto Dinah Prisk my Sister in Law an halfe a Guinea to be paid her in One Year after my Death Item I Give unto Richard Prisk Son of my Brother Ralph Prisk my Second best Coat and Wastcoat togeather with an halfe Crown in Money in Three Months after my Death Item I Give to my Nephew Paule Prisk my old Coat and Wastcoat in a Month after my Death Item I Give unto Richard Prisk another Son to my Brother Thomas Prisk the Sume of One Guinea in One Year after my Decease Item I Give unto my Niece Sarah the Wife of John Harris an halfe a Guinea to be paid her in one Year from my Death All the Rest and Residue of personal Estate Goods Chattles Rights Creditts and Effects whatsoever I Give and Bequeath unto my Sister in law Jane Prisk Widow of my Brother John Prisk and to her son Thomas Prisk Share and Share alike whom I do hereby Ordain Nominate Constitute and Appoint Joynt and Equale Executors of this my last Will and Testament and I do hereby Dissannull and make Void all former Will or Wills by me heretofore made declareing this as my last Will and Testament In Witness whereof I have hereunto Sett my hand and Seal this Eighth Day of June in the Year of our Lord One Thousand Seven Hundred and Forty Six.

The beforewritten Will was Proved in Common Forme the 9th Febry 1746 Before the Revd. Mr. Wm. Waddon Clerk of Arts Official ex. And Admion of the Goods ex. Of the Deced and of all things howsoever concerning the said Will was Granted to John Prisk one of the Exectrs. therein named a power being –ereed of Granting the like Admion to Jane Prisk the Other Esectr. therein named when she shall think fitt to take the same/ being first Sworne ex./Saveing ex/

The beforewritten Will is a True Coppy of the last Will and Testament of the beforenamed Matthew Prisk Deced. Examined and Compared with the Original this Seventeenth Day of February 1746. By us./ John Bennett (and) Wm OKeeff
