Copy of the Will of Matthew Weekes , dated 27 September 1743

In the Name of God Amen I Matthew Weekes of the parish of Probus and County of Cornwall being infirm and Weak of Body but of Sound Memory and Understanding do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament in manner following.
First I Bequeath my Soul into the Hands of Almighty God and my Body to be Buried with Decent Burial at the Discretion of my Executors hereinafternominated.
Item I Give to my Daughter Susanna the now wife of Stephen Stidson One Shilling to be paid within Twelve Months after my Decease.
Item I Give to my Daughter Ann Weekes One Shilling to be paid within Twelve Months after my Decease.
Item I Give to my Daughter Elizabeth Weekes One Shilling to be paid within Twelve Months after my Decease.
Item I Give to my Daughter Mary Weekes One Shilling to be paid within Twelve Months after my Decease.
Item I Give to my Daughter Constance Weekes One Shilling to be paid within Twelve Months after my Decease.
Lastly I Give to my Beloved Wife Ann Weekes and to my son Melchisedec Weekes all my Real and Personall Estate and all my Goods Chattells and Household Goods of what Nature or Quality soever they be to be Equally Divided between them and I do hereby Nominate Constitute and Appoint them the said Ann Weekes and Melchisedec Weekes to be joyntly whole and sole Executors of this my last Will and Testament they paying all my Debts and Legacyes and do hereby Revoke and Disannull all other Wills and Testaments, Signd, Seald and Declard this to be my last Will and Testament this Twentyseventh Day of September 1743.

But if my said Wife shall happen to Marry a second time I do Give to her but One Shilling and do hereby Revoke and Disannull everything to her before given and Bequeathed And I do also desire and request that my Brotherinlaw John Trefry to be Guardian and Trustee over my son Melchised Weekes and to see this my last Will and Testament legally Executed according to the True Intent and Meaning hereof In Witness whereof I have hereunto sett my hand seal this Twentyseventh Day of September 1743.

The before written will was proved in Common form the 2nd Day of September 1746 before the Revd Mr William Waddon Clerke Master of Arts Official etc and Admon of the Goods etc of the said Deced and of all things howsoever Concerning his said Will were Granted to Ann Weekes the Widow of the said Deced and one of the Executors named in the said Will reserving a power of Granting the like Admon to Melchesidec Weekes the Son and the Other of the Executors named in the said Will when he shall attain lawfull years of age to take the same upon himselfe being first sworn etc saveing etc.
 
No Inventry Exhibited.
 
The above written Will is a True Coppy of the last Will and Testament of the abovenamed Matthew Weekes Deced Examined and Compared with the Original this 12th Day of September 1746 by us
