Copy of the Will of John Langdon, dated 23 June 1746

In the Name of God Amen I John Langdon of the Parish of Probus and County of Cornwall being sick and weak of Body but of Perfect Memory and Understanding do make and Ordain this my last Will and Testament in form and manner following.
First I bequeath my Soul into the hands of Christ my Redeemer and my Body to be Buried with Decent Burial at the Discretion of of my Executors hereinafternominated.
Item I Give to Peter the son of Thomas Whitford of Verian One Guinea to be paid within Twelve Months after my Decease.
Item I Give to Mary theWife of Philip Bond of Ladock Two Guineas to be paid within Twelve Month after my Decease.
Item I Give to the now Wife and Daughter of Mr John Andrew of St Erme all the Wearing Apparell of my late Wife (Her Black Cap and best Suit of Linnen and Head Cloathes only Excepted) and also to Zacheus, the son of the said John Andrew One Guinea.
Item I give to Thomas Whitford of Verian and Mr John Andrew of St Erme all my real and personall Estate and all my Goods and Chattells whatsoever whereof I shall dye possessed and Entitled unto on Condition Nevertheless and in the Special Trust and Confidence in them Reposed that they shall and will permitt and suffer and that it shall and may be Lawfull to and for my sister Elizabeth the Wife of Francis Bassett to take and Receive all the Income and Profitt of my Estate and Convert all my Goods and Chattells to her sole Benefitt and Advantage at her Will and Pleasure according to the True Intent and meaning hereof.
And I do Nominate Constitute and Appoint them the said Thomas Whitford and John Andrew Joynt Executors of this my last Will and Testament to take care to see the same performed according to my True Intent and meaning. In Witness whereof I have to this my last Will and Testament sett my hand and seal this Twenty Third Day of June in the Year of our Lord One Thousand Seven and Forty Six.

The abovewritten Will was proved in Common form The Second Day of September 1746 Before the Rev Mr William Waddon Clk Master of Arts Official etc and Admon of the Goods etc of the said Dec’ed and of all things howsoever Concerning his said Will was Granted to the Executors In Trust in the said Will named being first sworne etc saveing etc.
 
No Inventry Exhibited.
 
The above written Will is a True Coppy of the Last Will and Testament of the abovenamed John Langdon Dec’ed Examined and Co’pared with the Original this 13th Day of September 1746
