Bond for indemnifying the parish of Probus from a Bastard Child
 
These presents bind us William Searle of the parish of Crantock in the County of Cornwall Gentleman and James Sampson of the said parish of Crantock yeoman our and each of our Heirs, Executors and Administrators and every and either of them jointly and severally in the sum of one hundred pounds of lawfull mony of Great Britain unto Richard Mitchell of the Parish of Probus in the said County Gentleman and John Coad of the said parish of Probus yeoman to be paid to the said Richard Mitchell and John Coade or to their certain Attorney their Successors or Assigns to wch payment well and truly to be made we bind ourselves our Heirs Exectrs and Admrs and every and either of them. In witness whereof we have hereunto sett our hands and seals this twenty sixth day of May 1747.
 
The Condition of the above Obligation is such that whereas Margery Roberts of the parish of Probus aforesaid singlewoman Hath made Oath that she is now big with child which was begot on her Body by the above bounden William Searle. If therefore the said William Searle and James Sampson their Heirs Executors or Administrators or any or either of them do from time to time and at all times hereafter discharge save harmless and keep indemnified as well the above named Richard Mitchell and John Coade Overseers of the Poor of the parish of Probus aforesaid and their Successors for the time being and every of them of and from all and all manner of costs charges and expenses whatsoever which shall or may in any manner of wise at any time hereafter arise happen come or be imposed upon them or any of them for or by reason or means of the Birth Education Nourishing and bringing up of the said child and of and from all other actions suits charges troubles and Demands whatsoever touching and concerning the same that then the above Obligation is to be void otherwise to remain and be in full power force effect and virtue.
