Bond dated 3 February 1779
 

Know all Men by these Presents that I Zacharias Williams of the Parish of Probus in the County of Cornwall Blacksmith am held and firmly Bound unto Joseph Seccombe and William Kessle Yeomen Church Wardens, and John Roberts and Edward Arthur Yeomen Overseers of the Poor of the said Parish of Probus (in Trust for the Parishioners of the said Parish) in the sum of Fifty Pounds of good and lawful Money of Great Britain to be paid to the said Joseph Seccombe William Kessle John Roberts and Edward Arthur or their Certain Attorney their Executors Administrators or Assigns; To which Payment well and truly to be made I bind myself my Heirs Executors and Administrators, firmly by these Presents. Sealed with my Seal and Dated the Third Day of February in the Nineteenth Year of the Reign of Our Sovereign Lord George the third of Great Britain, France and Ireland King Defender of the Faith and so forth and in the year of Our Lord One Thousand seven Hundred and Seventy Nine.
 
The Condition of this Obligation is such that Whereas Jennifer Annear of the said Parish of Probus Singlewoman hath in and by her Voluntary Examination taken in Writing and upon Oath before Francis Gregor Esquire One of his Majesty’s Justices of the Peace in and for the said County the Second Day of February Instant hath declared that on the Twenty Seventh Day of December last past in the said Parish of Probus she the said Jennifer Annear was delivered of a Female Bastard Child not yet named and that the said Bastard Child is likely to become chargeable to the said Parish of Probus, and that the said Zacharias Williams is the Father of the said Child. If therefore the said Zacharias Williams his Heirs Executors or Administrators doth and shall from time to time and at all times hereafter fully and clearly indemnify and save harmless, as well the above named Church Wardens and Overseers of the Poor of the said Parish of Probus and their Successors for the time being as also all and singular the other Parishioners and Inhabitants of the said Parish of Probus which now are or hereafter shall be for the time being, of and from all manner of Costs, Taxes, Rates, Assessments and Charges whatsoever, for or by reason of the Birth Education and maintenance of the said Child and of and from all actions, suits, Troubles and other Charges and Demands whatsoever, touching or concerning the same that then this Present Obligation to be Void otherwise of force.
