Know all Men by these Presents that we Rachael Searle of the Parish of Ladock and County of Cornwall, Widow, and Rachael Searle of the said Parish Spinster, are held and firmly bound with William Kessell and Joseph Seccombe Churchwardens, and John Gummow and William Huddy overseers of the poor of the parish of Probus in the said County (in trust for the Inhabitants of the said Parish) in the sum of Forty Pounds of good and lawfull money of great Britain to be paid to the said William Kessell Joseph Seccombe John Gummow and William Huddy or their certain Attorney, their Executors, administrators or Assigns, to which payment well and truly to be made we bind ourselves, and each of us, jointly and severally, and our and each and every of our Heirs, Executors, and Administrators, firmly by these presents. Sealed with our Seals, and Dated the seventeenth day of February in the twenty third year of the Reign of our sovereign Lord George the third by the Grace of God of great Britain, France and Ireland, King defender of the faith and so forth and in the year of our Lord one Thousand seven Hundred and Eighty two.

The condition of this obligation is such, that whereas John Searle being born a Bastard of the body of Catherine Searle single woman at Probus is likely to become chargeable to the said Parish of Probus, if therefore the above bounden Rachael Searle Widow, and Rachael Searle spinster or either of them, their, or either of their Heirs, Executors, or Administrators, do and shall from time to time, and at all times hereafter fully and clearly indemnify and save harmless as well the abovenamed Churchwardens and Overseers of the poor of the said Parish of Probus, and their Successors for the time being, and also all and singular the other Inhabitants and Parishioners of the said Parish of Probus, which now are, or hereafter shall be for the time being, of and from all manner of costs, taxes, rates, assessments and charges whatsoever, for or by any reason of the birth, education, and maintenance of the said John Searle, and of and from all Actions, Suits, troubles and other charges and demands whatsoever, touching or concerning the same, then this present obligation to be void, otherwise of force and virtue.
