Mr Robt Handcock and Mr John Handcock
Bond to the Churchwardens and Overseers of Probus
 
Know all Men by these Presents That We Robert Handcock of the parish of Probus in the County of Cornwall Yeoman and Basketmaker and John Handcock of the parish of Saint Just Yeoman in the County aforesaid are held and firmly bound unto Matthew Roberts and Thomas Gerrans of the parish of Probus aforesaid Gentlemen Churchwardens, and John Gummow William Huddy and William Gummow (Yeomen) Overseers of the Poor of the parish of Probus aforesaid (in Trust for the Parishioners of the said parish) in Forty Pounds of good and lawful money of Great Britain to be paid to the said Matthew Roberts Thomas Gerrans John Gummow William Huddy and William Gummow or their certain Attorney their Executors Administrators or Assigns To which payment well and truly to be made We bind Ourselves, and each of us, jointly and severally, and our and each and every of our Heirs Executors and Administrators, firmly by these presents, Sealed with our Seals, and dated this Fifteenth day of September in the Fiftieth year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord George the Third of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland King defender of the faith and so forth and in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and ten
 
The Condition of this obligation is such, that Whereas Mary Sparks of the parish of Probus aforesaid Singlewoman, hath in and by her Voluntary examination, taken in writing and upon Oath, before the Reverend William Gregor one of his Majestys Justices of the Peace in and for the said County of Cornwall declared that she was then big with a Bastard Child or Children and was on the fifth day of July last past delivered of a (Male) Bastard Child and that the said Bastard Child is likely to become chargeable to the said parish of Probus and hath charged the above bound Robert Handcock with having gotten her with Child of the said Bastard Child If therefore the said Robert Handcock and John Handcock or either of them, their or either of their Heirs Executors or Administrations do and shall from time to time, and at all times hereafter, fully and clearly indemnify and save harmless, as well the abovenamed Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor of the said parish of Probus and their Successors for the time being, as also all and singular the other Parishioners and Inhabitants of the said parish of Probus which now are, or hereafter shall be for the time being of and from all manner of Costs, taxes, rates, Assessments and charges whatsoever, for or by reason of the Birth, education, and maintenance of the said Child, and of and from all Actions, Suits, troubles and other charges and demands whatsoever, touching or concerning the same, that then this present Obligation to be void, otherwise of full force
