Maria Teresia Sholl and Robert Sholl her Son
Bond of Indemnity to the Parish Officers of Probus
Know all Men by these Presents that We Maria Teresia
Sholl of the Parish of Saint Clements in the County of
Cornwall Widow and Robert Sholl of the said Parish of
Saint Clements Gentleman her Son are held and firmly
bound unto John Kessell and Thomas Nankivell
Churchwardens and John Rooke Richard Woon and Richard
Peters Overseers of the Poor of the Parish of Probus in
the said County (In Trust for the Parishioners of the
said Parish) In the sum of Fifty Pounds of good and
lawful money of Great Britain to be paid to the said
John Kessell Thomas Nankivell John Rooke Richard Woon
and Richard Peters or their certain Attorney their
Executors Administrators or Assigns To which payment
well and truly to be made we bind Ourselves and each of
us jointly and severally and our and each of our Heirs
Executors and Administrators firmly by these presents
Sealed with our Seals and dated this Twentysecond day of
October in the Thirtyninth year of the Reign of our
Sovereign Lord George the third by the Grace of God of
Great Britain France and Ireland King Defender of the
Faith and so forth and in the year of Our Lord One
Thousand seven Hundred and Ninety nine.
The Condition of this Obligation is such That Whereas
Elizabeth Teague of the Parish of Probus aforesaid
Singlewoman hath in and by her Voluntary Examination
taken in writing and upon Oath before Sir Christopher
Hawkins Baronet one of His Majestys Justices of the
Peace in and for the said County of Cornwall declared
that she is big and pregnant with a Bastard Child or
Children and that the said Child or Children is or are
likely to be born a Bastard or Bastards and to be
chargeable to the said parish of Probus and that the
above bounden Robert Sholl is the Father of the said
Child or Children, If therefore the said Maria Teresia
Sholl and Robert Sholl or either of them, their or
either of their Heirs Executors or Administrators do and
shall from time to time and at all times hereafter fully
and clearly Indemnify and save harmless as well the
above named Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor of
the said Parish of Probus and their Successors for the
time being as also all and singular the other
Parishioners and Inhabitants of the said Parish of
Probus which now are or hereafter shall be for the time
being of and from all manner of Costs Taxes Rates
Assessments and charges whatsoever for or by reason of
the birth Education and Maintenance of the said Child or
Children and of and from all actions suits troubles and
other charges and demands whatsoever touching or
concerning the same, Then this present Obligation to be
Void and of no effect Otherwise to remain in full force
and virtue
