Jeffery’s Bond for the maintenance of Joan Harry’s base child

Know all men by these presents that We Richard Jeffery alias Clark of the parish of Probus in the County of Cornwall Labourer and Philip Bonds of the parish and County aforesaid Miller are held and firmly bound unto John Truscott William Rowe William Plummer and Melchisedec Hotten Churchwardens and Overseers of the poor of the said parish of Probus in the sum of fifty pounds of lawful money of Great Britain to be paid to them the same John Truscott William Rowe William Plummer and Melchisedec Hotten or to their Successors for the time being or to any of them or to their certain Attorney his or their Executors Administrators Successors or Assigns which payment well and truly to make we bind ourselves our Heirs Executors and Administrators and every and either of them, jointly and severally, firmly by these presents Sealed with our seals dated this fourth day of March in the year of our Lord 1746.
 
The condition of the above Obligation is such That whereas Joan Harry of the said parish of Probus and County of Cornwall hath lately been delivered of a Bastard Male child in the said parish of Probus of which child she hath sworn Antony the son of the said Richard Jeffery alias Clark to be the true father if therefore the said Richard Jeffery alias Clark and Philip Bonds or any or either of them their or any or either of their Heirs Executors and Administrators or any or either of them do and shall from time to time and at all times hereafter fully and clearly exonerate and discharge or otherwise well and sufficiently save harmless and keep indemnified as well the abovenamed John Truscott William Rowe William Plummer and Melchisedec Hotten Churchwardens and Overseers of the poor of the parish of Probus aforesaid and their successors for the time being and every of them As also all the inhabitants and Parishioners of the said parish of Probus which now are or hereafter shall be and every of them of and from all and all manner of Expences damages costs and charges whatsoever which shall or may at any time hereafter arise happen come grow or be imposed upon them or either or any of them for or by reason or means of the Birth Education maintenance and bringing up of the said child and of and from all other troubles charges damages and demands whatsoever concerning the same Then this present obligation to be void otherwise to remain and be in full force effect and virtue.
