Know all Men by these presents That I Abell Williams Pearce of the parish of Probus in the County of Cornwall Labourer am held and firmly bound to William Kestle & Joseph Secombe Gentlemen Churchwardens and Andrew Buckingham & Anthony Plomer Yeomen Overseers of the poor of the said parish in the sum of One hundred pounds of lawfull Money of Great Britain to be paid to them the said William Kestle& Joseph Secomb Andrew Buckingham or Anthony Plomer or there Successors for the time being or their certain Attorney, for the payment whereof I bind myself my Heirs Executors and Administrators firmly by these presents, sealed with my seal & dated this nineteenth day of October in the Twentyth year of the reign of our Sovereign Lord George the third by the Grace of God of Great Britain, France and Ireland King defender of the faith and so forth and in the Year of our Lord One thousand seven hundred and eighty.
 
The Condition of the above obligation is such that whereas one Jenifer Dennis belonging to the said parish of Probus lately before Henry Rosewarne Esqr one of his Majesty’s Justices of the Peace for the said County hath made Oath that she the said Jenifer Dennis is now with Child and that the said Child was begotten on her Body by the above bounden Abell Williams Pearce If therefore the said Abell Williams Pearce his Executors or Administrators or every or either of them do from Time to Time and at all Times hereafter fully and clearly discharge and save harmless as well the above named William Kestle and Joseph Secombe Church wardens and Andrew Buckingham and Anthony Plomer overseers of the poor of the above said parish of Probus, and their successors for the time being and every of them, as also all the Inhabitants and Parishioners of the s. parish which now are or hereafter shall be from the time being every of them of and from all and all manner of Costs Charges Expenses whatsoever which shall or may in any manner of wise at any time hereafter arise happen come grow or be imposed upon them or any of them for or by reason or means of the Birth Education Nourishing or bringing up of the said Child, and of and from all other Actions Suits Charges troubles imparchments and demands whatsoever touching and concerning the same, That then this Obligation is to be Void and of none effect or else to be and remain in full force and Virtue.
