Philip Brewer his Bond in 40£ of performance? and Indemnification to the Churchwardens and Overseers of the Parish of Probus
 
Know all Men by these Presents that I Philip Brewer of the Parish of Ruan-Linnahorn in the County of Cornwall Yeoman am held and firmly bound unto John Kessell Senr and Thomas Nankivell Church Wardens and James Huddy, Thomas Gerrans, and Philip Andrew Grieve Overseers of the Poor of the Parish of Probus in the said County (in Trust for the said Parish) in Forty Pounds of good and lawful money of Great Britain, to be paid to the said Churchwardens and Overseers or their certain Attorney, their Executors Administrators or Assigns, To which payment well and truly to be made I bind myself my Heirs Executors Administrators and Assigns firmly by these Presents. Sealed with my seal and dated the eleventh Day of March in the thirty ninth year of the Reign of Our Sovereign Lord George the Third of Great Britain, France and Ireland King Defender of the Faith and so forth and in the year of Our Lord One Thousand seven Hundred and Ninety nine.
 
The Condition of this Obligation is such that Whereas Rebecca Brunt? of Probus single woman has declared that on the twenty third Day of August last past at Probus Churchtown in the parish of Probus in the County aforesaid, she the said Rebecca Brunt was delivered of a (female) Bastard Child, and that the said Bastard Child is likely to become chargeable to the said Parish of Probus, and hath charged the above named Phillip Brewer with having gotten her with Child of the said Bastard Child, If therefore the said Philip Brewer his Heirs, Executors, Administrators or Assigns do and shall from time to time and at all times hereafter fully and clearly indemnify and save harmless, as well as the above named Churchwardens and Overseers of the Parish of Probus and their successors for the time being as also all and singular the other parishioners and Inhabitants of the said Parish of Probus which now are, or hereafter shall be for the time being of and from all manner of Costs, Taxes, Rates, Assessments and Charges whatsoever, for or by reason of the Birth, education and maintenance of the said Child, and of and from all actions, suits, troubles and other charges and demands whatsoever touching or concerning the same, that then this present Obligation to be void, otherwise of force
