A Copy of the Will of Edward Sloget, dated 30 June 1747
 

In The Name Of God Amen I Edward Sloget of the parish of Poundstock and in the County of Cornwall yeoman being weak of Body but of a Sound disposing mind and memory thanks be to ye Almighty God and Considering ye uncertainty of this present Life and the Certainty of Death doe for ye preventing of all Differiances between my Relations touching my Estate doe make and declare this to be my Last Will and Testament in manner and form following that is too say first of all I Commit my Soul into the Hands of ye Allmighty God my Creator hopink throus the merits of Jesus Christ my Blessed Redeemer to inherit Everlasting life And my Body I Resign to the Earth to be Deaciantly Buryed as my Executrix Herein after named shall think fit when it shall please God to call me IMPREMIS I give unto John Sloget son of my Brother John Sloget two shillings and sixpence to be paid one year after my death Item I give to Richard Sloget his Brother two shillings and sixpence to be paid him one year after my death Item I give unto Matthew and Mary son and daughter of my Brother John Sloget two shillings and six pence Each to be paid them one year after my death
Item I Give to the sons and daughters of my Brother Hugh Sloget two shillings and six pence Each to be paid them one year after my death
Item I Give to my Cussen Edward Sloget son to my Brother Jesse five shillings and too his two Brother Geo and Jesse two shillings and six pence Each to be paid one year after my death and too my Cossen Edward Slogets four sisters Elizabeth, Grace, Mary and Catherine if Living two shillings and sixpence Each to be paid them one year after my death
Item I Give to my first wifs Cussen formerly called Rebeckea Murfill since Pomery one shilling
Lastly I Give and Bequeath make & devise all Messuages Lands and Tenements as I now have and Claime or hereafter during my life may have or Claime either in Possession or Reversion and all my Goods and Chattels of what nature soever unto my Dearly Beloved wife whom I make and ordain my full and whole and sole Executrix of this my Last Will and Testament and this I declare to be my Will and meaning and I doe hereby Revoake and Disannull all and Every Will and former Wills made or done by me In Witness whereof I have to this Last Will and Testament putt my Hand or Seal this 30th day of June 1747. Signed and sealed by the said Edward Sloget

This before written Will of the above named Edward Slogett Dece'd was Proved in common forme the 26th day of April 1748 before the Reverend Mr William Waddon Clerk Master of Arts official e--? and admin'on of the goods etc of the said Dece'd and of all things howsoever concerning the said Will was granted to the Executrix therein named (being first sworne etc) saveing (etc)
