The Will of Edward Collings, dated 29 September 1746
In the Name of God Amen I Edward Collings of the Parish of
Perranarworthal in the County of Cornwall being disordered in Body but of Sound
and disposing Memory blessed be God for it do make and ordain this my last Will
and Testament in form and Manor following. And first I do bequeath my Soul into
the Hands of Almighty God who gave it And I hope will again receive it when it
shall depart this Body into everlasting Felisity in and through the merritts of
my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ and my Body to the earth to be decently buryed
according to the discretion of my Executors hereafter named.
Item I will that my Dets Leagaces and funeral charges be all satisfied and paid
Item I give and bequeath to my Daughter Elizabeth the wife of William White one
shilling to be paid by my Executors Item my Executors shall be obliged to pay
ten pounds towards the Cheild that is now in my Wifes Womb if it lives or
hamsonly maintain it. All the rest of my Goods and Chattles both reall and
personall of what Nature or kind soever I give and bequeath to my Wife Mary and
to my Daughter Margaret whom I do hereby appoint my whole and Sole joint
Executors of this my Last Will and Testament but in cause my Daugh: Margaret is
in Capable of Managin for herself I do nominate and appoint George Marten of
Stithians to be Guardian over the said Chield to sett or to lett, to by or to
sell as He shall think proper for the Good of the said Chield for making the
best of all that I leave to my Executors according to his Discreation but in
Cause that my Wife Mary shall marry after Som Time is past and the Chield
Margaret not capeable of doing her own Bussniss, that is to say past sixteen or
eighteen years of Age then in that Cause my Wife Mary shall go off with five
pounds only and have Nothing to say to nor to do with anything that I leave
behind me, but the said George Marten to maniage it for my Daughter Margaret as
aforesd. untell She is capeable of managein for herself; This is my last Will
and Testament as Witness my Hand and Seal this Twenty ninth Day of Septr. 1746

The before written Will is a true Copy examined and
Compared with the Originall this 12th Day of March 1747

The before written Will of the before named Edward Collings was proved in common
form the 7th of March 1747, And Admion of the Goods etc of the said deced and of
all things howsoever concerning the said Will was granted to Mary Collings the
Widow & one of the Executrixes named in the said Will, (reserving a power of
granting the like Admion to Margaret the Daur and other Executrix when she comes
of Age (being first Siborn) one saving etc)
