Rose Stephens and her Children

CORNWALL. To the Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor of the Parish
of Perranarworthal in the said County and to
the Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor of the parish of
Feock in the County aforesaid and to each and
every of them.
Upon the complaint of the Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor of the
parish of Perranarworthal aforesaid, in the said
County unto Us, whose names are hereunto set and seals affixed,
being two of his Majesty’s Justices of the Peace, in and for the said
County and one of us of the Quorum, That Rose STEPHENS wife of
Andrew STEPHENS Labourer and William aged five years Mary aged two years and
Mathew aged four months her children by the said Andrew STEPHENS have
come to inhabit in the said parish of Perranarworthal
not having gained a legal settlement there, nor produced any Certificate owing
them to be settled elsewhere; and that the said Rose
STEPHENS, and William, Mary and Mathew her said children are become
chargeable to the said parish of Perranarworthal We the said
Justices, upon due proof thereof, as well upon the examination of the said
Rose STEPHENS upon Oath, as otherwise, and likewise upon due
consideration had of the premises, do judge the same to be true; and We do
likewise adjudge that the lawful settlement of the said Rose STEPHENS,
and William, Mary and Mathew her said children is in the said
parish of Feock in the said County We
do therefore require you the Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor of the said
parish of Perranarworthal or some or one of you, to convey the
said Rose STEPHENS and William Mary and Mathew her said children
from and out of your said parish of Perranarworthal
to the said parish of Feock and them to
deliver to the Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor there, or to some or one
of them, together with this our Order, or a true Copy thereof, at the same time
shewing to them the Original; and We do also hereby require you the said
Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor of the said parish of
Feock to receive and provide for them as
inhabitants of your parish.
GIVEN under our hands and seals, the ninth day of
November in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and
three.

Thomas & Elizabeth Rutter and Children

of Gluvias in the said County and to the
Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor of the Parish of
Perranarworthal in the County aforesaid and to
each and every of them.
Upon the complaint of the Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor of the
Parish of Gluvias aforesaid, in the said County unto
Us, whose names are hereunto set and seals affixed, being two of his Majesty’s
Justices of the Peace, in and for the said County and one of us
of the Quorum, That Thomas RUTTER and Elizabeth his wife, and Phillippa
aged about seventeen years, George aged about fifteen years, Thomas aged about
twelve years, Jenefer aged about eight years, William aged about five years,
Alexander aged about three years, and Elizabeth aged about three months their
children have come to inhabit in the said
Parish of Gluvias not having gained a legal settlement
there, nor produced any Certificate owing them to be settled
elsewhere; and that the said Thomas RUTTER, Elizabeth his wife,
Phillippa, George, Thomas, Jenefer, William, Alexander, and Elizabeth their said
children are become chargeable to the said Parish of Gluvias
We the said Justices, upon due proof thereof, as well upon the examination of
the said Thomas RUTTER upon Oath, as otherwise, and likewise
upon due consideration had of the premises, do adjudge the same to be true; and
We do likewise adjudge that the lawful settlement of the said Thomas
RUTTER and Elizabeth his wife, Phillippa, George, Thomas, Jenefer, William,
Alexander and Elizabeth their said children is in the said
Parish of Perranarworthal in the said County We do
therefore require you the Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor of the said
Parish of Gluvias or some or one of you, to
convey the said Thomas RUTTER and Elizabeth his wife, Phillippa, George,
Thomas, Jenefer, William, Alexander and Elizabeth their said children
from and out of your said Parish of Gluvias to
the said Parish of Perranarworthal and
them to deliver to the Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor there,
together with this our Order, or a true Copy thereof, at the same time shewing
to them the Original; and We do also hereby require you the Churchwardens and
Overseers of the Poor of the said Parish of
Perranarworthal to receive and provide for them as
inhabitants of your Parish.

March in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and

Nicholas Kent

Cornwall. The Examination and Deposition of Nicholas KENT now residing in the
Parish of Perranarworthal tinner taken on oath the fourteenth day of August in
the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty two before Peter Bown
HARRIS and Thomas HARTLEY Esquires two of His Majesty’s Justices of the Peace in
and for the said County who saith that he is now about Fifty four years of age
and was born as he has heard and believes in the Parish of Perranarworthal
aforesaid and is the son of Francis KENT and Catherine his wife, That he never
rented a Tenement of the annual value of Ten pounds nor was ever an apprentice
or ever did any act whereby to gain a settlement. That he was baptized in the
Parish Church of Gwennap in the said County. That his Father rented a House and
about four or five acres of land called Greensplot in the said Parish of
Perranarworthal at the rent of six guineas per year for a term of twenty one
years the rent at that time was the full value. His father held it about a year
or two before his death and his mother occupied it the remainder of the term –
Examinant was about four years old when his father died. That he has always
heard and believes that his father belonged to the Parish of Gwennap and that
the family before him belonged there That Examinant was never relieved by the
Parish of Gwennap but the Family of his Brother Francis KENT had relief after
his said Brothers death from the said Parish of Gwennap His said Brother never
gained any settlement for Himself but followed his fathers settlement in Gwennap
That Examinants father was buried in Gwennap That Examinant has a wife called
Jenefer and six Children one of whom is called Lydia and is the person whoes
examination is taken immediately before this

the Poor of the Parish of Saint Stephens in Brannel in the said County and to
the Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor of the Parish of
Perran Arworthal in
the said County and to each and every of them.
Upon the complaint of the Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor of the Parish
of Saint Stephens in Brannel aforesaid, in the said County of
Cornwall unto us
whose Names are hereunto set and Seals affixed, being two of His Majesty’s
Justices of the Peace in and for the said County of Cornwall and one of us of
the Quorom, that Robert PELANRICK, Blanch his wife, Ann their daughter aged ten
years, Robert their son aged eight years, Martin their son aged five years, John
their son aged five years – and Blanch their daughter aged about a week have
come to inhabit in the said Parish of Saint Stephen in Brannel not having gained
a legal Settlement there, nor produced any Certificate owning thereselves to be
settled elsewhere, and that the said Robert PELANRICK, Blanch his wife and Ann,
Robert, Martin, John, and Blanch their children are chargeable to the said
Parish of Saint Stephens in Brannel We, the said Justices, upon due Proof made
thereof, as well upon the Examination of the said Robert PELANRICK upon Oath as
otherwise, and likewise upon due Consideration had of the Premises, do adjudge
the same to be true; and we do likewise adjudge, that the lawful Settlement of
them the said Robert PELANRICK, Blanch his wife and Ann, Robert, Martin, John,
and Blanch their children is in the said Parish of
Perran Arworthal in the said
County of Cornwall. We do therefore require you the said Churchwardens and
Overseers of the Poor of the said Parish of Saint Stephens in Brannel or some or
one of you, to convey the said Robert PELANRICK, Blanch his wife, and Ann,
Robert, Martin, John, and Blanch their children from and out of your said
Parish
of Saint Stephens in Brannel to the said Parish of
Perran Arworthal and them to
deliver to the Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor there, or to some or one
of them, together with this our Order, or a true Copy thereof: And we do also
hereby require you the Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor of the said
Parish of Perran Arworthal to receive and provide for
them as Inhabitants of
your said Parish.
Given under our Hands and Seals, the second Day of January in the Year of our
Lord One Thousand Eight Hundred and Twenty seven.
